Binghamton is one of many colleges and universities across the country that now offers you the opportunity to live in chemical-free housing. Students previously convicted of a crime are advised that their pre-criminal history could hinder their ability to live in on-campus housing. New students must indicate this application when submitting their housing preference form. Note that the space in the break case is extremely limited and we may not be able to respond to all queries for this option. If Binghamton University students forgo heat, electricity or hot water for an unsuitable time (weather conditions will be a determining factor) or if their room is declared uninhabitable for another reason and the situation is determined to be under the control of campus staff, these students should be compensated for the period when they were uncomfortable. The refund must never exceed the total cost of renting the room for the number of days that affected the students by the unfavorable condition. If a student room has been declared unviable and decommissioned, residents of that room are assigned to available university accommodation. In the fall of 2020, residents will be able to apply for permission to cancel their accommodation for spring 2021, due to their diploma, study abroad, exchange program, university layoff, school transfer, withdrawal or military service. An application for cancellation of accommodation must be submitted and approved by November 13, 2020 at 16:30 .m to avoid a $200 tax.
